Homestead and Mortgage Exemptions Posted December 20, 2011

Property tax exemptions are an important part of keeping the taxes on your home at a reasonable level. If you purchased or re-mortgaged a home during 2011, it is to your benefit to contact the Allen County Auditor's Office to make sure that your homestead and your Mortgage exemptions have been filed in your name. In Allen County, just call the Auditor's Office at (260) 449-7241 and ask the following questions: What exemptions are on my property and are they in my name? Also ask the Auditor if there are any other exemptions for which you may be eligible. You must call before December 31, 2011 (and since that falls on a Saturday, you need to call by December 30, 2011).
