Many of us take the roofs of our homes for granted, especially if it's a newer home. We might check them occasionally but we mostly ignore them unless of course there is a leak or dark streaks are forming. Roofs and roofing materials are subject to wear so we recommend that you periodically walk around your house checking the roof to look for missing, loose, or curled shingles. Check the gutters to make sure that there aren't lots of granules in them, and that there are no loose nails. Using binoculars from the ground is the safest way to check a roof. If you are going to use a ladder be extremely careful using safety precautions. We always recommend that you seek advice from a professional licensed contractor and check their credentials.
